Combining NCB...

Hi there,
I currently own two cars.
They are both insured with different companies, and i have accumulated NCB on each policy.
On one policy, i have two years NCB, and hopefully come Xmas time it will be three.
On the other car, i have four nears NCB. This car is actually SORN and the insurance is due for renewal this August.
I will end the policy when it comes to renewal, as i do not use the car (it is garaged) and i THINK i am right in saying, if the car is off the road and declared as SORN, i do not have to have it insured.
My question is, can i add the NCB from the policy i plan to end, to the current policy with two years NCB?
Or...
Will i be able to swap the two years NCB for the four years NCB, hopefully giving me a better discount?
Should none of these be legal/advisable, how long to NCB last? As in, do they have a shelf life if not used?
Sorry to be so long winded!
All the best,
Graham

I don't think you can. Will i be able to swap the two years NCB for the four years NCB, hopefully giving me a better discount?
Yes, as long as it's not more than 2 years old.how long to NCB last? As in, do they have a shelf life if not used?
Can't give a totally definitive because at the end of the day it's up to the individual company, but in general it's two years.
So if you don't use the second lot for 2 years, it will eventually expire.
You could alternate to keep both "alive" but clearly there will be a cost when using the lower NCB, so you have to compare the overall benefit with the cost.0
