Reclaiming CC interest on CC charges - question

Hi guys,
I wonder if anyone can offer some advice?
I have a Tesco CC and am trying to reclaim the charges.
The balance now stands at over the limit of £550 and is made entirely of charges and the interest they have charged me on the charges.
I made a without prejudice offer that they could bring the account to a £0 balance and close it, as the total I'm reclaiming is about £600. TBH I just want it out of my hair.
They have offered me all of the charges +8% =£423 (ish)
My question is: if they are offering me a refund on the charges can I make them also offer a refund on the interest thereon? I don't want the extra 8% on top, or even the full amount I'm reclaiming, I just want the account closed!
I've paid for everything I've bought using the card and some interest on that, I just don't really want to pay their 20%-ish rate on their charges!
I haven't got any spare money to pay the difference anyway, and they are now talking about default notices etc that I will have to have cleared because surely you can't be required to make payments on a debt in dispute...?
So, what would you do next?
Thanks a lot for any help in advance.

Yes.
The thing makes me question it is that if the charges aren't legal and are being refunded then surely so should their interest on them... Or am I being naive?Do you need it? Yep. Really? Yes! How have you managed for the last 28 years without it? Erm....

If I did issue a claim in court, do you think I'd get the other interest too?
I'm sorry to be so annoying, and I really appreciate your help, it's just that I'm between jobs and every penny counts.

OK, it sounds like I've got to take what they've offered and bite the rest.
