Hi all,
My Dell 9150 PC came with a Phillips DVD 8701 DVD-RW.
However, while playing one of the DVD's its seems to have changed it region coding from Region 2 to Region 1. Having re-set the player to region 2 again, it seems i have lost 2 of the 5 attempst allowed in changing the writers settings.
I was interested to know whether there is some way to make this DVD writer region-free or multi-region?
I often hear there are firmware hacks available for most DVD players to make them multi-region. Could this also be done with PC DVD RW's?
Any help or advice from techie experts would be much appreciated.
Regards,.

Install and use this: DVD43 http://www.dvd43.com/ it's free and sits in your system tray and ensures that you aren't affected by region codes. You have to let it run everytime you load your computer however, it is considered "lite" on system rescources so shouldn't get in your way.I was interested to know whether there is some way to make this DVD writer region-free or multi-region?

More than likely, here are some pages to search through:
The Firmware Page\Forums: here
VideoHelp here
CDFreaks here
HTHIt could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.0 -
Many thanks for the guidance ABH
