Tiscali phone line repairs

Hiya,
Can anyone help me please? My home landline phone stopped working on 23 June 09 and I contacted my provider, Tiscali. Since then, I have made numerous calls from my mobile to try to get the fault repaired. They have promised every day that the problem is being sorted and I even waited for a BT engineer between 1-5pm to repair the line on Tiscali's instruction but of course he never materialised. Absolutely, at my wits end as I need my home phone and I am at my wits end with Tiscali.
Has anyone had a similar experience?
(thanks to Violetta for her suggestion to post this thread on the Home Phones Board)

Don't Talk Talk now own Tiscali?Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

EU approval had to be obtained and they only got it yesterday.;)

Normally once the fault has been escalated to OpenReach you will get a contact no. to reach them direct. When the same thing happened to me, Tiscali were a nightmare, once it got to OpenReach it was quickly resolved. You just have to keep hassling Tiscali, also ask them for some compensation for a missed service call. If the engineer didn't show he should have contacted you on your mobile number. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Hoorah, the line is now fixed! Thank you but no mention made of escalating the problem to 'OpenReach' - just felt like the line would be faulty forever. But I made a formal complaint last night by email and pasted in a copy of a letter that I typed up last night listing all the calls that I had made to Tiscali and all their (not at all helpful) responses, and the non-appearance of the engineer. This letter was also copied to the ombudsman. And lo and behold, today the line is fixed.
I totally agree, Tiscali were a nightmare and I wouldn't wish this experience on anyone.0 -
Yes, I believe they do. Am looking round for new phone and broadband provider but now wondering if Talk Talk customer/repair service will be any better - don't want to jump out of the frying pan into the fire!0

For all intents and purposes, it's now the same fire!Patience_is_a_virtue wrote: »Yes, I believe they do. Well, I am certainly not going to be burnt twice. Thanks for the caution.
