hi .
im currently a studetn on a HNC engineering course.
however, i am on day release from work, as i work full time, and only do 10 hrs a week, not 16hrs which ive heard mentioned before.
i am also married, 2.4 kids, mortgage etc....
so, i am asking, is there anything i am entitled to claim, get discount on etc, that i dont know of, or havent been told about??
cheaper council tax perhaps, or cheaper entry to cinema??
anything really!

Does the institute you're registered with have a student support department? You might find you can apply for a hardship grant or another time of grant as you have dependents (your kiddies!).
Best thing to do is ask everywhere. Also, when you're next at the dentists/opticians - ask for a form that you can fill in to apply for money off as you're a student. you should be able to apply to the gov to get some money back for glasses, appointment fees etc. forgotten what the form's called though...

oh and grab an NUS card if your institute runs it. If they don't - you might find a lot of places will offer you concessionary rates, or retailers will give you student discount based on seeing your college/uni card.
as for cheaper cinema tickets - go to the "free sim card" thread on the freebie forum to get a couple of orange cinema tickets. use them to text 241 for 2 tickets for the price of 1 on Wednesdays. If you get 2 sims and use them for the family - that should mean that you, your partner and kids can all go together for the price of 2 adults.
Also on the freebie forum (sorry i don't know how to post the link) there is some offers for free cinema tickets where you go to previews or special screening for example. that should save you a few bob too.Thomas Jefferson: "When you reach the end of your rope, tie a knot in it and hang on."

See if you can get a council tax exemption form from your uni/college (not sure if you'd be entitled or not, worth asking) as this can get you 25% off your council tax0
