Hubby has to fill a form to claim his pensions and he has been asked to send his orginal marriage certificate not a copy. I am wondering what happens if it does get lost in the post and whether I should send it by recorded delivery. The other query is, he will be 65yrs on the 7th and is this the date he should put he want his pension to start? Thanks.

I used to work for teh pension service and we got this alot,
Take them along to yout local jobcente/SSO and ask them to photocopy and and stamp it as a certified copy. It can then be sent on .
You can send it recorded to them , if you do so they will send it back by recorded delivery.
Just tick the box on the BR1 that says to claim from the earliest possible date, the pension is actually payable from the 1st full week on entitlement after pension age.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0
