Desperately in need of help - nail varnish on carpet !

As the title implies, I knocked over a load of nail varnish - bright pink on a baby blue carpet (in a rented place)!:eek::eek::eek:
I spent about an hour last night scrubbing with nail varnish remover, which took the bright element out but there's still loads of colour in the carpet
You wouldn't believe how little it seems came out of the bottle but how much there is on the carpet!
I've read so many different tips on the internet but how do I know which ones to trust?
Please help, I'm desperately hoping this has happened to someone else and there's a cheap (obviously MSE) way to get the polish out of the carpet?!!
Many thanks,
pippitypip

I know I'm in my own little world, but it's ok - they know me here!

I'd check your insurance policy and if you are not sure, give them a ring. They got tar out of our brand new carpet, so you never know. If not covered, try Yellow Pages for carpet cleaners, ring a couple of people up and go with someone who seems to know what they are doing.

More nail varnish remover?
it worked for me on our carpet but there wasn't as much on that as there was on my huge handsewn family heirloom quilt
The key is to dab and constantly refresh the cloth you're using, do not scrub!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Thanks
I decided to go for the hot water, hairspray and face cloth option that I'd read a few times on a google search.
I wanted to try and keep it low key as I recently moved back in with my parents and didn't want them to worry as we rent. (Read - I didn't tell them!)
Have to say, I'm so surprised, I used nearly boiling water and then sprayed masses on hairspray right into the carpet. left it for a bit, scrubbed with a face cloth and more hot water. Repeated a few times.
The stains are barely noticeable now and trust me it went everywhere! I will have another go at it tonight and it should then be all gone - I'm thrilled as I was in so much of a panic that it wouldn't come out!
Hope this helps someone else if it ever happens to them!!
