problem with tomatoes
Hi all I have got a problem with the tomatoe plants in greenhouse. I have one greenhouse at home and one down the allotment, all plants have been planted in same compost. Anyway I did have one plant that seemed to be stunted in allotment greenhouse which as now bulked up and grown away nice. The problem is with the plants at home they are very stunted and spindley and dont seem to be growing away. I just wondered if anyone else is having any problems? The plants are looked after in the same way fed at same time etc etc....
Thanks

You haven't got any new manure in there have you?
There has been a problem with some manure having a certain herbicide in it.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
The herbicide in question may have contained aminopyralid + triclopyr which stays active in manure which will go on to kill susceptible plants if used on them. (deep breath)
These herbicides are no longer licensed for use. They have had the MAPP status withdrawn.0 -
That's the one and tomatoes don't like it. Although it may have been withdrawn, it's still about it lots of manure.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0

Oh well that puts a spanner in the works. by all accounts tomatoes are a bit fickle to grow anyway. Unless you haven't been watering enough or there's something nasty in your compost, i don't know. Are there any markings on the leaves or stems? You can get foot rot, stem rot, leaf mould, Blossom end rot etc etc etc

it could be a virus - without seeing the plants it is hard to guess from your description.0
