Why do we pay more for Windows 7?

Why is the UK being charged £30 more than the Americans for Windows 7?
£150 seems alot anyway, i thought pricing was going to be around same as Vista(£80).

Alot of money imo.

Americans don't get paid in Pound Sterling, so its exchange rate relative to the US Dollar doesn't govern how much they pay for Windows.

Couple of threads on here about being able to pre-order Windows 7 between 15th July and 9th August for £49.99 (Home premium) and £99.99 (Professional):

Im on about premium version, and the prices above say it's £30 more for us. Just seems unfair.

Is it also unfair that as a general rule people in the UK are paid more than those in the USA?

Much more to it than just saying 'it is cheaper in the USA'.

To follow that logically, then companies set a price according to how much people can pay, rather than what a product costs or is worth.

    Now That IS unfair.

As moneysavers, we have a choice, don't we?

The following article from Tech-no-media has a useful discussion of this.
