Computer work from home, does it exsist?

This might seem like a stupid question but i really don't know the answer - basically i was wondering if jobs exsist for doing occasional bits of typing work, proof reading, data input..or any sort of computer/admin/emailed type work.

I work full-time in an office, but I desperatley need to try and earn some extra cash, so I thought I would see if there are jobs available that I could spend a few hours in the evening doing - maybe there are agencies that have this sort of thing available? I wouldn't want to commit to working every evening, just occassional work, like maybe when a small company needs a batch of data input doing, or a document typed up, checked etc.
All i can find on the site for extra income is marketing type jobs however i don't think i am suited to that.

Any suggestions or advice would be much appreciated. Thank you!

This is something that i have been looking for too as i have a 10 month old baby. Any help would be much appreciated.
  • I am also looking for this but all I can find are internet scams!! Can't find anything myself that doesn't require set hours. I am a mature student going into my final year but come September I will have to quit my job as they can't change my hours to go around my lectures.

With rent and bills I am not going to survive on just my student loan - and I refuse to give up my dog to go and live in student accomodation with teenagers, she is my life! :D

    There's a website called peopleperhour.com

I don't know much about it but it's a site where you can "bid" to complete various work assignments. Most of the work is remote and there's lots of different catergories. You have to pay a % of your fee to the website as they act as an agency, but it seems legit.

I haven't used it myself though.

why not try bar work or night shifts in supermarkets as then you can do this around studying and will cover the bills.

A long shot, but you could try the Computer Weekly job site http://www.computerweekly.com/jobs/default.aspx, or perhaps a local job agency could help you?

Try approaching local small businesses yourself and ask if they need any help.

I do ad-hoc admin work for a small manufacturing company as the owner hates spreadsheets! I got that job as the owner posted on another message board I use asking if anyone knew an agency where he could pass the work onto someone and I offered to do it direct for him.
Here I go again on my own....
  • Hi everyone. I do this kind of work, proofreading, editing and transcription. The site I use is called elance, which I dont think is mentioned much on here. Its a bit like ebay, although without money, in that you bid and submit proposals based on what jobs interest you. maybe check it out??
  • Have a look in the "saucy new job" thread. There is considerable amounts of money to be made on the phones and webcams.

Or you can look at earn extra income (don't think we are allowed to post the link but you can search for it on a search engine) - they list mainly Direct Selling companies but can be a good extra earner which allows flexible working....
