Hi all,
I'm on the hunt for somewhere to live.
I'm not disabled, but my friend is and he has asked me to help find him somewhere to live. I will also be living with him.
How do I go about finding somewhere?
He is in wheel chair, so it would need to be a fully adapted house.
Were based in Wiltshire.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Joe

I would like to help but I dont know the area, but wish you best of luck. I suppose sart at the estate agents and go from there. Try your local couoncil too they may have some purpose built property's or a list of companies that buildthem.I used to be me !! what happened0 -
If you want adapted or special build accom then either local authority or housing asociations are your best bet,but waiting list are long.Unless of course you are looking to buy then get a grant for adjustments?0

I would first suggest speaking to you local housing officer through the council, they will be able to advise on the local councils procedure's. I would they go down the route of speaking to local housing associations and if looking to private rent look at letting agencies.
If your friend has any contacts with an OT or social services then they would be able to help also.0 -
Does anyone know if you can rent, and then get a grant to make adjustments? Or do you have to own the house to do that?
Thanks to all who post comps!

I have asked him a few times, but he isn't very motivated. Hence why I need to sort it.
I will call the council and see what the options are.
Is anyone else in this situation? Thanks to all who post comps!
