Expensive architectural plants = money saving?

Does anyone else here agree with me that architectural plants, specifically palms, offer good value, long term? Sorry, but I don't think it's money saving at all. Sounds like fashion gardening to me. And fashion is never money saving. Just another fad designed to extract cash from easily influenced people IMHO.
