i pay my tv licence by direct debit but i just found out that they charge me a extra £5 for using the direct debit system i always assumed that paying by direct debit was cheaper but not so. is these gangsters not getting enough from us all when is this culture going to stop . i would like martin to have a look at the best possible way on the direct debit system.

Well perhaps your £5 and countless others go to pay talented performers like Mr Jonathan Ross's perks like little gifts of Tiffany cuff links from the BBC management.

Isn't it bad that it isn't made clear I always thought actually that the direct debit system for TV licence costs the same as paying in one shot.

Interestingly BT actually charge you approx £5 per quarter extra if you pay over the post office counter or a bank with the paper bill.
Particularly people like pensioners are hit because many don't like or understand the direct debit system.

It seems we don't know where we are with half of these companies.
I think you shouldn't be penalised for however you want to pay and all these extra charges should be outlawed by the government.

Now have you heard that TV detector equipment only detects the old cathode ray tubes but NOT the new LCD or plasma?

The license fee will either get abolished or the government will try and put it onto PC equipment as well!

    You heard it here first!

i pay by direct debit and i am not charged a fiver extra, they just take the licence amount, just been on tv licence website and if you pay 3 monthly there is a charge of1.25 each 3rd month. i think this is diabolical, i have the six months in front and 6 months behind licence and the dd is taken on the 1st of every month. but i wonder why i have not been charged extra? maybe they are waiting for october when my licence expires then i will get stung
