Any know if something like this is any good ? Acer 92.G1EYZ.UFP Aspire Revo / Intel Atom N230 1.6GHz / 2GB / 160GB / Vista Home Premium / Desktop PC along with this monitor 20" LCD Widescreen Widescreen Monitor (1600 x 900) - E2008HDSV

All thoughts and advice welcome. I'm not looking to build the machine myself before anyone suggests that as its not for me and can't be bothered with messing around.

Depends what you intend to use the computer for?

Might be worth hunting around for the best deals, check out dell, you can customise your computer for your needs and after a quick look it appears better value for money.

    thanks for the info.

its not for me and will mainly been used for playing online bingo and then arcade games like the one's you download from bigfish etc so it doesn't need to be anything super but just want something a bit more up-to-date and the monitor needs to be at least 19".

I looked on dell before and was going to get the deal of the week which comes with a 21" monitor for £449 but just seemed stupid paying that when it seems like I could get better buying seperate.

Go to https://www.dmxdimension.com for all the latest deals from Dell.

Be aware Windows 7 will be launched later this year and at some point soon free upgrade vouchers should be available on new purchases, so if you can wait do so.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

For the tasks outlined, even the most basic PC will do the job, cheapest option is just to buy a new monitor and probably upgrade the RAM in the existing machine. Failing that, go for an entry level Dell Inspiron, something like the 546, under £400 with 20 inch monitor, or you might get something off using Dell Outlet. That's only £50 more than your proposed model.
The PC you suggest is a nettop, not a full desktop PC. It has no optical drive and is not really upgradable. Fine if you really need the space-saving design, but not for any other reason. Also I am surprised that they are selling this with Vista Home Premium installed, as Vista will struggle to run on an Atom processor with the maximum of 2GB RAM installed. Almost all the other models running on this processor use XP Home.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
