Photoshop training

I really want to learn photoshop, have got a copy on my mac, but haven't the foggiest where to start, I"d always considered myself quite computer literate, but don't know where to start - I've had a look at a few guides, but they assume you have some knowledge of the programme - I want to know what the icons do etc...
Anyone had any good experiences?
Thanks

If you are stuck on something then do a search on line for instructions or walk through. Check out Adobe's website as I think there may be some help there.

Where did you get your copy of Photoshop from as Apple stores sometimes run classes.

Sign up for a free trial membership at Lynda.com

They have plenty of video tutorials to pick from on Photoshop, it will at least give you a flavour of what things you can do with the program.

Just google trial membership lynda, should be the third link down on the results page.
