Have a good day shopping, SF, make it as frugal as possible :)

I've been studying the LETS system and the more I read up on it, the more interesting it becomes. Has anyone else joined one of these yet? Spoke to organiser of ours and she has explained loads to me that I hadn't previously thought about and, until then, I just didn't 'get' the concept of trading without the need for cash. I'll keep everyone posted on how this goes but plan on making much more use of the system now that it's finally sunk in how it all works. :D

Off to the hospital today for my second opinion, hope that I get some good news. Also the prolapse that the registrary discovered in January wasn't bothering me until this last week and is now, so yet another thing that needs sorting, I really feel like I am falling apart and am very stressed. One problem when I get stressed is all budgetting goes out the window. Even the car parking ticket is expensive and they are starting to build up.

Fancy LETS, but no group locally, not sure what I could trade though. Also say an item a while ago about people picking fruit etc. from wild fruit trees - does anyone have a link or an idea what these groups are called?

    Conrgats Whitewing.

Is it really hot everywhere? We have some breeze today and it is much nicer, but last night! DH popped to Tesco last night for bit of cat food and check out reduced adn said it was like getting of the plane on holiday coming out of the air con.

    Hi Nyk

quote"SM, There's another BIG training exercise between 6/7/09 & 16/7/09 that involves up to 50 jets. I've just read the Typhoon is listed and now I can't wait! They really are spectacular and I have only ever seen 3 of them fly over here and one performing at Leuchars air show. Truly, truly awesome jets."unquote

I went to Donna Nook RAF bombing range yesterday on a school trip and was told there will be a big operation next week here as well so maybe lots of areas.

I live on a disused RAF camp and there is an active airfield only 200 yds away.
We often get the Chinooks landing when they are training, and there have evern been talk of SAS doing training here as well.
    My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).

£4,000 for a year is actually only £76.71, so you're rich! :rotfl:

Gosh I have never thought of it like that!. Wouldnt it be wonderful to be rich :rotfl:
The difference is the fact that only 10 months ago I was struggling with the family and had over £20,000 coming in. So the drop is feeling pretty dramatic to me. (Not counting the rent that was subsidised by about half).
So if I am rich, thats good.
I looked at my so called budget again, and I really cannot see where else to make changes, I have done this all before so wont bore you with the details.

I was wondering if I should start to take in alterations again. (Used to do it years ago, ) but not sure if I am allowed since I went bankrupt 2 years ago. Something else to investigate:rolleyes:
Still waiting for my cushions to be delivered. I hope they come soon.
Been doing housework this morning. Blitzing type not just normal housework. As the spiders here are taking over the cottage. They are breading in all the nooks and crannies!!
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.

Good news with the house - it was only put on the internet last night and we've already got 5 viewings :D First one's tomorrow so I'm trying to get the house looking as good as it can :o

Nyk, I applied to our LETS but decided not to start until we get back. I'm really looking forward to it actually so I'd love to hear more about how yours goes. As for what you can offer Patchwork, things like babysitting and dog walking are always good and whatever service you offer they're all 'worth' the same. So I intend to offer my skills and claim them back against things which cost more than my skills in the real world eg a massage, car repairs etc ;)

Good luck at the hospital Patchwork.

Mooloo, it does take a while to adjust to big drops in income - I was forced to go from 33K to benefits through ill health - but I promise it does get easier in time. Then you wonder how you ever had so much and feel like you'd be a millionaire if you ever earnt that again :rotfl:

Mooloo have you had a bankruptcy dishcharge notice? if so you have no need to inform the reciever of any changes regarding self employment etc

I was released early and no regular payments to creditors were neede as they don't consider spare amounts of money less than £50 and i earned very little at the time.

Theoretically my financial life is my own again and i could start a new business and plan to eventually ........just not sure what it may be!!

Got a bargainous gammon joint for £3 at the market this morning which is in the sc for tea having new potatoes and salad from the garden with a cucumber raita i have 4 cucumbers ready and more nearly ready which is good but not very effecient ........................cucumber sarnie anyone?

Mama67 we always go to donna nook at christmas to see the baby seals....hubby would rather look at the bombers.......................

MooLoo, you could always trade goods and services for your repairs - work out the costs, suggest they pay by exchange of goods to that value - home cooking, fresh produce from their garden, free range eggs... that's how LETS works, no cash required. :D I'm hoping my new next door neighbour will trade in Crees for eggs, jam etc ;)

Mama67, I did a little further research and next week's exercise is flying out of Kinloss, it's post-grad pilot testing or something like that. I reckon the surveillance plane came over just doing a general sweep checking for anything going on that may need prior warning. According to the MoD site, we are Low Fly Area 16, Tactical Training Area 20T. If you check their site you can check your area and see a list of exercises that will be taking part there. It's probably the same thing as here. Picnics, bins, cameras and sunspacs from dawn at this rate and not forgetting the factor 50, just in case. :)

Went into town for milk, bread, fruit & veg. Spent about £20 but that included buying a fly screen for the back door and stocking up on sterilising fluid & firelighters whilst I had the chance of them cheap. Brilliant bargain with mixed peppers, bananas, tomatoes & grapes being in the Ald! 6 this week! Made the most of those 49'ers. :)
