Fingers crossed for her - and please, for my mum too
My dad called this morning to say she's had a heart attack and is in hospital. I'm packing some stuff up for us to go and stay with him and am kind of on auto-pilot at the moment, not achieving much, just thinking oh i mustn't forget this and then putting it down....

Really sorry to hear about your nan Lynda, and that H2B is away this week too. Thinking of you and wishing your nan well xx
Another busy day here as they are rapidly running out, the days that is! Just had the lady round who's moving in here, she's from South Africa originially but lived in Zimbabwe for quite a while so we had a good natter and laughed about how little Shona we both know (she lived in an Ndebele area). The great thing is that she wants almost everything in our house, including the plants, pictures and a wooden giraffeWe just need to find a mattress, wardrobe and chest of drawers if possible then she's fully kitted out. She loves the garden as it reminds her of home
and is going to bring seeds back to plant our veg beds with the staple green veg of Southern Africa :T
Dad is coming up next week to finish off all the jobs that need doing while I start packing. I think my mum may be surgically attached to my nephew so not sure if she'll make it :rotfl:
Today I need to pay the embassy :rotfl:(they rang already this morning, v efficient), sort things with the letting agent, drop my job application off, go shopping and tick some more things off my Countdown to Kathmandu list. Maybe a cuppa first eh?
Have a wonderful day everyone xx
EDIT: oh Kittikins, just saw your post. So sorry to hear about your mum as well, really hope she's okay. Don't worry too much if you forget a few things, it's not important right now xxThe 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

I am off to do the last Primary school pick up soon! ( Just a leaving buffet tomorrow lunch, but not normal pick up time tomorrow) I have been going up for the last 12 years and never thought that I would be feeling sentimental, but I am. My baby is leaving primary. I feel rather emotional, both my children are starting at new institutions in September and it is making me feel very old. I am probably going to have a hysterectomy and was just reading about Kate Garroway who is the same age as me and just having a baby and feeling well that isn't going to be me ( although I know that, as my DH had the snip a while ago) it is a shock to know that I will no longer be fertile.
Probably all mixed up with my health issues and the kids growing up in such a definite way Sixth Form and Secondary school.
Emotional moment finished!!! ( well for the computer though)
Hugs to Kittikins ( and your mum!) and Lynda ( and your Grandma!)0 -
Hi guys and gals,
Hope mums, dads and grandparents are all as well as can be expected and that we hear of some speedy recoveries soon.
It's been sunny and very warm here today again, so it's back to garden watering as everything seems to dry out so quickly. HS is watching the golf from Turnberry, which isn't that far from us, so that'll show you what the weather's like about these parts - evidence that Scotland isn't always cold, wet and windy.
Nothing much to report here. I entered couple of free competitions, one to win a duck house, so I'm keeping the fingers crossed, as ours is fine for now but won't be much good through the winter without another bit of renovation work.
Today is the first day of charting my calorie burn in an effort to step up my 'get fitter, not fatter' campaign as it just doesn't seem to be working. I did a trial run yesterday with the pedometer, just to make sure I do the minimum 10,000 steps, but I was well over that, so no problem there. It has to be the calorie intake versus burn ratio that's completely wrong. Gardening, sitting at a computer and evening walking don't exactly get the old heart pumping to burn off all the extras I pack away every day.
CW, good luck with the insurance.I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Speaking of extras, I would really like some right now! Trying to resist (not that I have anything in the house) but if anyone fancies popping round with a lovely slice of something for a cuppa...;)
Mixed results so far today - visa money sent off but had to be postal order so £10 extra ; job application handed in but appears there may be no job til Sept and in a different town, if at all ; sign language results back and I passed :j
Anyhoo, the sign language was a little boost to help with the disappointment jobwise. It's just such a fine line we're trying to create between having a family and me feeling fulfilled in a job I love after so long out, and I just don't know if it's going to be possible...back to the drawing board I guess. I WILL find a way though!
Patchwork cat, I'm sure it is an emotional time with your children making such obvious grown-up steps. Have a hug from me xThe 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

Well done on the sign language results bails :T that is one course I always hankered after doing but never got around to.
Recycled a telephone today from the oldies flat being cleared so now have a free phone to go with the free line installation;) then mum popped by at lunchtime and brought me two fleece blankets which I intend turning into "sausage" draught excluders for the cottage ready for winter. Just need to find something for stuffing first.0
