Hi all,
Lynda - Glad to hear you are ok and that it was the modern car that got shunted. Hope you get it all sorted asapWell done on winning the Sat Nav
Nyk - Jealous of you getting a deep fat fryer. I love proper chips, but as I have no windows in my kitchen, I think the smell would linger for ages
Thankyou so much to whoever posted about the Heritage Open Day. As the weather is so good this weekend, I have cancelled my Saturday overtime (although OH refuses to do the same so we can actually spend some time together ) Anyway, I was just going to go to the park, library etc and chill out for a day, but now I think I will do that as it's FREE and much more interestingMust go to Lidls at some point though as they have figs for 15p each and I love fig chutney
In my good news - you may remember I posted about my company's founder getting a knighthood in the summer? Well, to mark the occasion, he has given every single employee of the business (and there are a lot of us as we own many smaller companies) a little hamperIt contains: chocolates, slab of fruit cake, lemon curd, plum chutney, flower seeds and a little teddy. I thought it was a really nice gesture...am tempted to use it as a Christmas present...
Oh, I did my car insurance and it came to £288.75, which I have paid off, so now the DD can be reverted to savings (and upped to £35). Plus another £10 each to go to Emergency Fund/House Deposit (will be doing this every payday)We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment0 -

skint_chick we still like to hear from you even if you feel you haven't done much, its nice to hear how peoples day or week went and it encourages me to keep going. Thats why this thread works so well, all the help, advice and just picking each other up. Happy anniversary:T
Lynda I am glad you are ok, you just never know when you get out of bed whats going to happen do you? Probably just as well sometimes though. I hope you get the insurance sorted quickly.
Blairweech You can get rid of fat smells and others by soaking a piece of bread in vinegar and letting it sit all night in the room, alternativly put some vinegar in a pan and simmer it for a while.
Mooloo I hope you are feeling better now. It can take years to get into the frugal mindset, don't forget we are bombarded by advertising all the time telling us we need this and that. It rubs off on us and it takes a lot of effort to ignore it. one step at a time is the best way to get into good habits no matter how long it takes and even the tiniest thing you do all helps in the long run.
I know how you feel about helping family I used to always be doing it but we have slowly backed off and allowed/encouraged them to stand on their own feet with only a little help now and again these days.0 -
Good evening everyone,
Hope you are all well. Sorry to hear about the car and yourself lynda, it's a nightmare when that happens, it happened to me a few years ago, I was all sore for days afterwards.
I've still nothing much to report, but like to check in. I've been pretty good and not spent a lot of money lately, I'm sure that will change sometime soon.:o
I have checked my present stash, it is looking quite healthy, but will need to get a move on and get some more added to it.
I'm off for a mooch about, will check in later. xx0 -
Just popping on for a quick update, have lost track of the thread over the past week and a bit as it has been hectic in real life.
My lovely dad lost his long battle with cancer last Thursday and the funeral was today.I'm really struggling to come to terms with things at the moment despite it being expected so probably won't be around much for a while.
In the meantime congratulations where due, hugs to those who need them and good luck with mountain climbs and other challenges.I'll catch up as soon as I get the chance.

SM, just popped on for a quick read and didn't want to not post. I'm so sorry about your Dad. My Dad has just been diagnosed and is going through all the scans, biopsies etc - we're still waiting for results here (operations went well that's all we can say at the moment). I'll be thinking of you today and over the next few weeks, sending big hugs your way. I'm sure I speak for everyone, we're all here for you. Take care love xxxx:jWeight loss to date 1st 11.5lb :j0
