Welcome back Optimisticpair!
I've just listed 24 items on ebay, it took soooo long. Mostly clothes so I thought I'd better take measurements etc. Still, even if they all sell for 99p at least there will be some more space in the wardrobe, and that's a little bit more towards the wedding costs!Live on £11k in 20110 -

And so frugally too! That little story made me chuckle, so thanks for posting that! £3.99 for 12 eggs?!! Were they faberge eggs, laid by the golden goose?
Haha, you'd imagine so wouldn't you. No they were from Waitrose, its the only supermarket here, they do advertise some eggs that are £1.99 for 9 but I've never seen them. Its daylight robbery isn't it? They do taste nice though.
lynda I'm impressed that you can do 24 listings on ebay in a morning. They take forever. Good luck with them and hopefully they will sell for much more than 99p.There are many things in life that will catch your eye, only a few will catch your heart. Pursue those.0 -

Evening,
I'm back from my travels (again), stayed over last night as I had an early appointment today. I met my boss afterwards, so asked him for a payrise (again). I have defo got to ask the big boss, will do this next week after we have been paid. The boss thinks that it is reasonable what I am asking, I would like more but have to be realistic. That way, I can manage a bit better if they pay what I ask whilst looking for something where the salary is good.
They will defo not pay the going rate.
I have been thinking about my mince and lentils blairweech and maybe I just used too many. I'll do it in baby steps next time, or will just do the grated carrot first and build up to the lentils.
Glad to see you back sft, sorry about the roof.:( I am going to try homemade jam for christmas prezzies along with my home made tablet, which nyk has sampled. I done some of this last year and it got spoken about much more than any shop bought presents did.
It will soon be time to think about christmas, I am going to look and see what I have got in so that I can get a list going for anything that I might need. My brother is 40 2 weeks before christmas as well, so that means a special present for him.
I'm off to watch a bit of telly, will check in later. xx0 -
A very scary day for me today. I finally met with my boss, so i am now officially a SAHM (providing governers agree) although not sure if i will get paid again, so now living as if on the bread line.
Tea tonight was chicken pie mix from AF, with mash from garden spuds, with courgette from the garden and some leftover broccoli that the ILs bought when they were watching the kids last weekend.
I have had a really stressful day. Even ended up having a panic attack. I just really hope i am doing the right thing. Knowing my luck something bad will now happen and i will need lots of cash to fix it and be stressed about it.
Nursery were great too. The girl in charge of the room lives in my village and was giving me advice on local nurseries for when DS1 qualifies for free hours.
I think the worst bit was my boss was so nice and told me to go back and visit and said he'd write a good reference. I have met some great people in the 8 years i have been there, and i am not naive enough to think i will still see them all the time. I will just have to make the effort with the ones who i care most for.
Anyway, no dwelling on it. It is what it is now. DH is out working this evening on call. No particular plans for the rest of the week apart from needing to write official letters to work and the nursery to state the situation. Must be really good with money now for the rest of the month so it all runs smoothly.
I am thinking cheap entertainment for the kids. I will take them to see the field of horses at the end of our road tomorrow if nice, and maybe a short walk in the woods. DS1 wants to make a shaker by putting rice/beans/pulses in an empty bottle as he has done it at nursery. We can then tie it to the tree to make a noise in the wind. Also plenty of frugal housework needs doing like washing my car again, but it might be safer to leave that to the weekend when DH can help supervise. The munchkins get too over-excited by it. God help me when they twig that expensive things are cooler and more fun, :rolleyes:0 -

Good morning frugalers
Some great links being posted! Thanks for those, Shaz & Cheerfulness, I'll be needing some fabric soon if I ever get around to completing the kitchen.Jam jars, I save my old ones, get others to save for me plus get some from my LETS buddies or else via Freecycle, so no shortage of jars here. I'm guessing it's nicer to buy shiny new ones when it's for gifts, though.
Challenge-wise, I hate to give up on something and am really annoyed that my C25K challenge has been suspended through injury - most frustrating but nothing I can do about it. I guess it's easy to forget I'm not a teenager any more, so the bumps and knocks have lasting effects. Mwaaaaaaaaaaah... I don't wanna get old and decrepit! If only I could accept the challenge of dieting, instead. :rotfl:
Sorry to hear about the roof costs, SFT! But I guess it's part and parcel of home ownership and it is, really, one of the most important things we need - a good, solid roof over our heads. Guatemala sounds a little bit scary - did you fnd out what the problem had been with the plane? Everything aside, welcome back to the UK and frugaldom. Yoiu've certainly had an exciting year so far.
Too many posts to comment on individually but I have read them and think I'm up to date. ChaMichelle, you will be fine as a SAHM, try not to worry about things too much and, if all else fails, see you in FarmV!lle There's bound to be a stray sheep needing rehoming soon to take your mind off things. :rotfl:
Not sure what's happened to our sunshine but the washing hasn't gone out yet and it's looking less than promising now. :rolleyes:I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Morning all
I was at work yesterday & for an hour this morning, but today I'm going to the local charity shops, I NEED some spotty fabric, I want to make fabric chickens, sort of a tbag shape & I NEED them to be spotty, lol. Still on a more sensible note I will see if I can find anything else to refashion as I've had to throw some clothes away as they get stained with inks & toners at work. But I won't be spending any money on anything else as my freezer is full & so are my store cupboards.

Hi everyone! Hope you're all doing well. I'm afraid it's just not going to be possible for me to keep up with the thread whie I'm away - this is going to be the best internet connection we have and yet still it's not possible with so many other things to do each time I come online. Still hopefully you can keep up with us on the blog and BB can keep me up to date with big news from here.
CW, thinking of you at this time of year xxx
