Well my car needs quite a few thing including a new tyre? I seem to be going through some tyres considering I hardly use the car?
Better try to buy abetter quality tyre this time. Also a few other things, anti roll bars or something. Biggest of Mooloo's BF is going to fix it for me, if I order the bits from the local garage. But he cannot do it until the weekend. Wonder what thats all going to cost me? Gulp.
Re the plums etc, I am scribling down all the ingredients etc and I will start to make something with the plums and apples that fall off my tree asap. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Afternoon all xx
Postie has just brought my clubcard vouchers and some rather nice MOC included (£9 off a £60 shop, and two £6 off a £60 shop) :j - I can see me stocking up the storecupboard again over the next few weeks.
Also just completed another online survey and have redeemed the points so another Mr S voucher winging it's way to me :T.
Washing is all up to date after holiday, just one more load to hang out and dry shortly.
SM loveeeeee the chickens ! They look wonderfully healthy.
SFT, safe rest of hols and even safer journey home. Can't believe how quickly it's gone !
Bails hope all is well and you're having a wonderful time xx
CW hope your trip into town went well?
Mooloo sorry to hear the car is going to cost a bit. Can you make some plum jam and sell some to help out a bit?
Tempted to have an afternoon nap here (didn't sleep well last night due to tummy ache) but know I'll feel awful for the rest of the afternoon/evening. Lesser of two evils I think .
Really ought to be out in the garden planting some things up but can't seem to muster up the motivation for that. A job best left until I'm in the right frame of mind I think, otherwise I'll see it as a tedious task rather than an enjoyable one. Feeling a bit glum but know it'll only last a couple of days and I'll be right as rain again - the joys of being a woman  . Anyone got any chocolate !!?? lol :rotfl::jWeight loss to date 1st 11.5lb :j0 -
No joy with the job
They'd taken the sign down - but that didn't stop me asking....
Apparently stopped taking applications as they've been inundated in the short while it's been up (much, much more than they ever have before), and the owner has had to start sifting/interviewing even before they closed applications..... reckoned he'd have drowned in them if he hadn't :rolleyes2Cheryl0 -
Oh Cheryl, sorry to hear that
It was lovely of your friend to think of you though....at least you have that heartwarming thought....

Evening everyone.
Sorry I've not been around - I seem to be able to update everyday for a few days, and then not at all for a few days. I will try and be more consistentThings seem to be busy around here, as per usual. I finish work for the last time on August 31st, which seems to have come around really quickly.
We had an 80th birthday party this weekend, which went really well. I saw lots of family members which i haven't seen for 6 or 7 years, so that was nice to catch up with them. Me and dad did a little live music set, with me on the flute and him on the guitar, which everyone seemed to enjoy, and then I played some piano pieces as well, so that was nice. It was a really good evening, and we had some people in to do the catering, and got to take home all the left over food, so that was a bonus, lol :rotfl:
The only downside to this weekend is that the bf was here, but on saturday afternoon he got a call from his sister to say that their grandma was really ill and in hospital, and may not last the evening. She is 91, and in a home, but still, very sad. She's hanging on in there, but it doesn't look very hopeful - the doctor said that she probably won't wake up again, and that its only a matter of timehe stayed on saturday night for the party, which I said he didn't have to do if it was too upsetting for him, and he left midday on sunday, but its sad. I've only met her once, but she's a lovely lady.
I'm up to 11 nsds this month, which is good so far. Much better than last month, and its good because I spent more than I should have last month. I still need to do some updates to the signature which I will do in a bit, but I'm still very much on track, which is pleasing
I hope you are all having a pleasant evening.
Cheryl, thinking of you xx
SM your hens look fab!!

SF - Sorry about bf's grandma, (((hugs)))
The party sounds like fun, and I'm sure everyone enjoyed the music. I've always longed to play an instrument but unfortunately I am not in any way musically gifted.:o
Was planning on going to the huge blackberry bush again tonight but am shattered so justhad a bit of a rummage around the garden instead. Tonight's little harvest - one cucumber, small batch of red cherry tomatoes, about 1lb of blackberries from the stray bush, and a small batch of ripe rosehips. The fruit will be frozen until I get around to jam making and rose hip syrup making:D Just wish my big tomatoes would go red - there are tons growing and decent sized but all still green
Enjoy the rest of the evening everyone:D0 -

and your stuff from the garden looks lovely - i'm jealous of the blackberries - i keep searching where we live, but haven't found any yet xx

Mooloo, have you had the tracking checked on your car, DS told me I was getting through tyres way to fast & got it done for me, I also find the car drives better now.

CW - thinking about you
SM- Congratulations on your new additions they look lovely and I'm very jealous of your feathered friends. My grandad used to keep chickens and I'd love to but I think my neighbours would object!
I had a busy weekend going to the reclamation yard getting very excited over period fountains, furniture and doors. We went to get quotes for replaing our nasty plasticy white internal doors with reclaimed ones - although after getting a quote we're having a re-think and going to see a local joinery firm next weekend. £1225 plus VAT:eek: for 5 doors:eek: scared me. Then went to local maritime festival and saw some boats, crowds of people and a cheeky woman pushing a buggy who ran over my foot:mad:, covered me in mud:mad: and didn't even apologise for ramming me with her small child:mad:
Have borrowed India Knight's Thrift Book from local library and although her idea of thrift isn't anywhere near the level of this challenge I think some of the websites mention could get be good so I've set aside some time tomorrow night to have a browse and if I find anything useful I'll let you all know. Managed to get whoopsied melon and pineapple for 10p each at A*da so weekly groceries came in at just under £13:D and that included £4 spent on diet cola products:o"I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better." Well I got a little spurt of energy just before it went dark so had a wander to my blackberry bush and picked another 3.5 lbs of blackberries before it got too dark. (claiming the bush for me as nobody else around here seems to be interested in foraging, so I get to pick it all myself
)
Tonight's total haul of berries around 4.5lbs,:j other 1lb already in the freezer
skint chick - geat bargains
