Hi BigMummaF, are we nearly neighbours? We're only about 10 mins from the campsite0

SM thanks for the info I will get onto it on Monday.
Hello Bails :hello:
Cheryl well done on the money saving on food.
jtb I have all my jars in lettuce boxes under my bed. I might invest in some plastic boxes with lids next year but these will do for now.
Bb love the picture I wonder what the caption would be?
I am feeling better than I did this morning,I've kept the painkillers topped up all day so hopefully will sleep tonight.
In between sitting I have made a ginger cake,a chocolate cake and a fruit cake. Also did pasta meat sauce in the oven at the same time to save gas and made some more french onion soup (this time to eat for tea with rounds of french bread with cheese melted on top)0 -

I do like to mark my birthday by doing something Nyk, (and it has to be on the day, another one doesn't do) but it doesn't have to be 'big'. Last year was fab though - big picnic with friends in the Downs. I needed a good one after a very difficult year. This year will be just OH & me , which is just as nice but don't know what we'll do yet (Edit: might go blackberrying - that would be great). I can understand other things taking priority for you this year!
What will you be doing Taka?
I've taken the day off work (20th in my case ) and my Mum and I will be doing our annual trip round the craft fair, a posh jewellery show and lots of misc stalls and watching the world go mad during the Edinburgh fringe. My mum usually buys me something handmade at the craft fair or stalls as my present. We've done this every year (or on the nearest weekend) since I was a kid - the only year we have missed was when I was in Australia so I went to the Melbourne equivalent that weekend instead. :rotfl:

Good evening everyone,
I've been getting ready for the camping trip tonight, so some things are in the car and the rest of it is ready to go.
Then, went over to mum's to visit before I go, she was a bit sore tonight, she never complains so I'm a bit worried that she is in pain, but she'll never tell us. She has to go for a check up on Monday, I hope she tells the nurse if she is uncomfortable.
Finally, I went to visit the prince because I won't see him for nearly a week.:A
He had his old man jammies on and was winding down for bed, so was his dad, though I don't think that the wee fella had the same type of drink as dad. He is fond of champange, I don't like the stuff. I'll need to get a bottle from Nyk for him to try, it will taste much nicer and will certainly be frugal.
I'm off to bed, I'll miss you all, I'm not sure if I will get on in the morning so cheerio until Friday. I'll try to be good while I am away. xx0 -
Too lazy tonight to make any jam but after sampling NYK's eldeflower champagne tonight over a general chat about home brewing, winemaking I was inspired to start my blackberry vodka and blackberry gin. These will be used in hampers at xmas once they are bottled.Meanwhile the new preserve storecupboard will be an ideal place to store them.:D0

Yummy, blackberry vodka/gin....right, I know what DD and I are doing later today, we've not been out picking for about a week now. Poor little scrap is sleeping upstairs in my bed with an earache, so I don't think I'll be taking her for a swim this morning
Re: bottles for giving boozy gifts, it suddenly came to me that sloe gin will be perfect in....gin bottles!! When I've made it in the past, I prepared lots in demi-johns, but I suppose it was a 2-person job to get the finished product out of the dj (ex was on the scene then), bit blooming heavy!0 -
Good morning frugalites
Bails, that's fantastic news about the placement at the orphanage(DD's wedding is 5th Sept, rellies arriving 4th as most are too far away to arrive on the day).
JTB, glad you enjoyed your hols
BB, I'm not a very 'birthday' person, nor even a celebratory person. I tend to do lists of 'things to do before I'm... whatever' and then the day comes and I have failed to do them. I'm giving up with the lists as this year sees out the postponed 'things to do before I'm 40' which then became 'things to do before I'm 45' but next month it would need to become 'things to do before you are 50' and that just isn't on! No way! :rotfl:
Have completely forgotten who said what, now, so please take it as read that appropriate responses are what was meant.
SM, the blackberry gin/voddie looks great! Seeing as I have never tried it, I'll probably start off just a little vodka, seeing as some kindly neighbour donated a freebie bottle.
SL, have great fun camping. At worst you'll get cold and wet, at best you'll have an absolutey fabulous, fun packed time and have plenty to laugh about. Then you'll need to tell us all about it!Will save you some champers to try and must get started on the peapod wine soon. Either that or I have a couple of bags of peapods available for your friend!
Grandma, hope the pain is easing and you aren't doing too much, keep taking the tablets, as they say.
Managed to pick another 650g of blackberries last night whilst out walking. Got home, met the neighbour, brought her in for cuppa and chat (see SM's post for what it was about) and have decided to use some of the berries to try blackberry vodka. No fancy jars here, it will need to be jam jars until I source a couple of smaller bottles.
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Resting as much as I can. That's the trouble with arthritis you have to balance the rest with activity because too much of either hurts. Had it since I was 14 so it is not going to improve I have just tried to slow its progress as much as possible by eating right etc.0
