He has put his mothers address on the tenancy agreement but it is fact he doesnt live their, as when he is back in UK he rents a flat in town with girlfriend and when hes abroad all his furniture + belongings are in our garage. We also recently had a letter from him giving an address in Guernsey...hhmmmmmmmmmm
If his mother's address is on the tenancy and it is in England / Wales then you have the address you need to serving notices. His mother's address, explicitly placed on the tenancy agreement is very likely to meet all the requirements.0 -
I feel you are trying to clutch at straws here...
Regarding them entering the property - just change the locks! Keep the old one, and when you leave, put it back on. It won't cost much.
Are you aware of the waiting lists for a council house? If you go to the council stating you are homeless, they might put you in a B&B, meaning you could all end up sharing one room.
The 3x deposit claim doesn't always work, particularly in cases where the tenant has also been in the wrong, then a judge has over-ruled it.
Perhaps you should re-assess your finances, do whatever you can to earn more money, check you're getting the relevant benefits, then at the end of your 12 months, move out, and find somewhere cheaper.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
"seems unfair"
what seems unfair to me is that your circumstances have changed, and you can no loner afford the rent - but you are trying to wriggle out of your legal responsibilities by blaming the landlord.......
LL&T legislation is very partial/impartial in many ways - but with regards to the payment of rent it is very clear
if the tenant does not pay - they are at fault and can be evicted.
If you had been living in utter squalor, with dangerous gas or electric appliances etc no one, including me, would blame you for not wanting to pay the rent - but you are not claiming any of those things.
your "complaints" about the landlord are relatively trivial, and yet, we are once again met with a whole host of landlord bashing and lists of "how we can threaten the landlord"
none of this is necessary - pay the rent - end of story
and do try to at least be honest about your own behaviour
what the LL has done is not right - but neither is what you are doing.....0
