Stepping out from the rental agreement before paying deposit

    i would just write a short letter, saying that you have been offered a job in a different part of the country and you are sorry but you are unable to take up the tenancy

    Thank you all for your advice. We just called him and told him that we are stepping out. He didn't agree with us on that he has to pay council tax for the self-contained flat (well, we definitely knew it was legally required, but there is no point to argue with him), but he was fine with us not taking the flat anymore. So problem sorted. :beer: We just have to find another one:mad:. We won't report it to the council though, just to stay away from the trouble. Thanks for everyone again.

    If you don't report him he will try the same on the next people, why not wait a while and then report, when he's forgotten you.
