Faulty Orchid Dialler

Mom has been using her Orchid V4 Plus on her BT line for just over three years. It has never let her down, until today.
Mom was complaining that she was unable to receive incoming calls, people were telling her that there was a very short ring tone followed by immediate disconnection. On testing from my mobile this was definitely the case.
Phoned BT who confirmed there was a fault, but it was identified as within the property. After the usual checks - remove the lower front cover from line box and test from the inner socket, which made no difference, I decided to remove the dialler from the line. Success. Incoming calls connected and came through as normal. As soon as the dialler was reconnected she couldn't receive incoming calls.
I cleaned all of the plug contacts with pure alcohol but it made no difference.
Anyone have any suggestions as to anything else I can try? As these diallers are no longer available it's going to be difficult to get a replacement. I might call Orchid tomorrow and see if they have any suggestions, not holding my breath though.
Thanks.
