my car needs taxing tomorrow, is it to late for me to do it online?

No, you can still do it online - but, your new disc won't arrive for a few days - probably next week now, which would mean that you will not be displaying a disc, which is an offence. But you would show up on the system as having one.

You Get 5 days from the 1st of the month to display your tax disc providing you buy online.

In the case of failing to display the Police would simply report you to the dvla for failure to display, however you wouldnt not set off an ANPR as you would be listed as tax'd.

Forgive me for asking, but why would the DVLA interested in 'failure to display'?

The law changed in sept 2008 which means so long as you have bought it online you have five days grace before you can be prosecuted for failure to display. In my most recent car tax reminder I had a slip of paper detailing the change in the law.

So long as you have bought and paid for it you should be fine even if it hasn't arrived yet.
