Hi there,
I too am going into teaching this Aug and I had to do an Enhanced Disclosure check (this is diff to England i think). I was worried about it due to something very minor i had done when I was a stupid teenager anyway the disclosure check came back clean as a whistle! I did a bit of research and some convictions get wiped during the 'weeding' process. i think again this is only in Scotland although if you look on net there maybe something similar done in other parts of UK.
IMO you will be fine, the checks are to find out if a person has had any convictions in relation to children i.e. s*x offenders etc.
If it does come up explain your situation and turn it into a positive i.e. explain how you are turning your life around etc.
Stay positive and let us know how you go. GOOD LUCK!Spreading the gospel that is Martin Lewis to the future generation....I'm a Home Economics Teacher and being thrifty is the way!:A0 -

I don't think I'd tell the entire story. I'd just say you did something you are ashamed of when you were a young adult, and you have learned x and y from the experience which you feel will help you to relate to the problems facing youngsters in your charge as a teacher because ...
I think the fact that it was two weeks and not two years is highly relevant, as is the fact that it took place quite some time ago. I think you should focus on explaining what you have learned from the experience now you have matured rather than being seen to excuse it.
The fact that you were broke or unwell is not so relevant as, given the same situation now, you wouldn't repeat that mistake you would find an alternative solution.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0
