Extending Shed Base

Hello, I have a base (slabs) already laid at the bottom of my garden but the shed I'm having fitted there will overhang by about 1 foot onto grass (currently at the same level as existing slab base). I want to add just a couple of extra slabs after removing the turf (area about 5' x 1').
How do I prepare the bed for these slabs?
thanks

You have two choices
The correct way , remove turf , dig a shallow pit (5x1 ) fill with small stones , sand and compact well .perhaps look at something like slablayer ( sand cement mixture)
Or what I would do
If the ground has NOT been disturbed , just remove turf . Scrape flat
The question /answer , is that you dont want the new slabs to sink!! if you dont disturb 'virgin ' soil , it wont sink.0 -
Thanks for your reply wallbash. The garden was newly-laid 12 mths ago so not sure that it would be solid enough. Prob best if I do it the correct way as it's a very small areaIf you will the end, you must will the means.0

:mad::mad: that's a shame.
I have very successfully used 'slab layer' from Wicks
Scrape the depression ( 5x 1) and pour the sand/cement , in the dry form.
Push around till its level . then with a watering can , fitted with a rose, wet.
Just place slabs on top,
Seems to easy ... thats wot I thought, but it works, And because you are 'playing ' with a dry mixture , you can take your time , and it does not move .0 -
That sounds great - I'll try it;)! Thanks againIf you will the end, you must will the means.0

If you think that the soil might be loose then I suggest that you consolidate it with a rammer of some kind before putting down the slabs.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0
