Remortgaging - free legals

Hi,

I am just after some advice. about 4 wks ago I submitted an application form for a remortgage. one of the factors that swung it was the free conveyancing I was getting but what I am concerned about is that I have not heard from the solicitors yet, not even an intro letter.

I know this sounds a stupid question but is conveyancing the same as legla work.. I have not contacted the mortgage provider as just had the chat with a mate now and she is a bit surprsied that I haven't heard anything.

I can't belive I have been so thick

cheers for any help

the free conveyancing with a lot of remortages in notoriously slow. with some they give you a certain amount and you are free to use your own solicitor. do this if possible.

I have most remortgages completed in four weeks, so its worrying you haven't heard from the solicitors. did you send the application in direct to lender? has lender acknowledged your application? who is lender?

  • It would be unusual not to have heard anything after this time.

Have you received your mortgage offer from the lender yet? With free legals some will not instruct until the offer is issued.
