i'm currently with southern electric who only generate a bill every 3 months. i like to keep up to date and pay at the end of each month which means a phone call, waiting on hold, confirming details and reading out my card information every time.
just wondering if any other companies make it easier to pay monthly and do not require a phone call. it would be a lot easier if i could submit my reading online and pay with saved card details once a month.

I get gas from Scottish Power and pay monthly by DD, I enter the meter reading on the last day of every month and a bill is generated the next day. Not sure if it works the same way for quarterly billed accounts but SP is much better for accurate billing than EDF, eon and npower in my experience.0

I just checked my online account with British Gas, you can make a payment, I went right through as if I was going to make one, the closed the browser at the 'enter your card details' stage.
I do pay monthly DD normally £58.
As I'm only £68 down I'm not going to bother about it, as long as it's clear by winter........I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

You can pay by Standing Order or Direct Debit0

i dont want to pay direct debit because then i end up losing track of what im using. i am more likely to take care using gas/electric if i'm seeing the exact cost of it every month.0

And you won't end up giving them overpayments that you could be getting interest on yourself!:cool:I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

Ever thought of looking at Southern Electric,s site.
Give online meter reading. http://www.southern-electric.co.uk/givemeterreading.aspx
View or pay bill online. http://www.southern-electric.co.uk/paybillsonline.aspx0 -
yes i have already done that. the problem is you submit your readings and then nothing happens. you still have to wait til the next 3 month bill. they wont generate you a bill until the 3 months is up. so theres actually no point submitting readings until the end of the 3 months.
unless you phone up and go through it with the customer advisor which is time consuming as mentioned above.....0 -
