However, after investigating the Council Tax valuation list for the corresponding road, there are 14 band B properties, each of which say: 'With effect from 01/04/1993' and without any accompanying court code.

This would indicate the VOA have reduced the bands without recourse to a tribunal hearing.
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

Presumably the date quoted refers to their original classification in 1993, when the council tax was introduced, and hasn't been changed since ?

Not exactly. The date is from when the new band becomes effective.

Many thanks - I've looked again at the other properties (Bands C & D), and there's no 'with effect from' date shown.

So the banding logic for the street, after one or more 'Band B' property revisions, now looks (superficially) consistent.

But whether there's a case for a 'Band C' detached property to be down-rated seems a moot point.
  • At least you might have half a chance. I recently got a letter from R&V saying my property is in Band F and they were successful in getting a similar property reduced to Band E. Then I checked on the VOA website and my property is in fact a Band D! Fell at the first hurdle. Time-wasters, chancers, call-em what you will.
  • How do you go about changing your Council Rate Band. Can it be done online
