economy 7 mix up

I think that my electricity supplier has mixed up the readings on my meter to my advantage!. The question is if I change suppliers and then tell the new supplier would they contact the old supplier.?
The fault does not appear to be with the meter but somehow the readings that are taken by the meter reader are swopping night for day readings. I gather this is a fairly common problem.
The problem seems to go back several years and before i bought the house.
Anyone had this happen to them?

Why, when you think you are gaining presumably a huge advantage, are you even considering changing supplier?

If the advantage is not significant, why not come clean now?

Of course, honesty is the best policy as the supplier may identify the error, if any, at any time.
