Chicken in Vegetarian Spring Rolls - Should I complain?

Hello :j

Yesterday myself and my fiancee who are both Vegetarian's, yesterday bought two Large Vegetable Spring Rolls in Asda. They were bought from the deli counter and were clearly marked as Vegetable Spring rolls - and we watched the lady take them from the correct section, not the "standard Spring rolls section".

Anyway, as I bit into it last night, on my second bite (by which point I was confused by the strange texture) I realised that the spring roll was full of Chicken. My fiancee cut hers open and hers too was a Chicken one.

I still have the half eaten evidence :rolleyes: plus the receipt.

* Should I complain?
* What is the likely outcome of complaining?
* Anyone experienced this before?

Many thanks

:p

    Yes complain - they should be more careful.

    Expect a full refund of the product and an apology.

    Yes, similar experience - after affects in the bathroom aren't pleasant!

    As both a vegetarian and someone who works for Asda, I can assure you that this sort of thing is taken very seriously. Take your receipt and packaging back to the customer services desk where you purchased the product and tell them what happened. If you were coming to me with a complaint like this I can assure you that you would have your money back, a replacement product and I would be asking a manager what we could do in the way of goodwill.

    I know that if it were me, the kitchen wall would have been pebble dashed. Totally not acceptable. As an Asda colleague, I'm sorry that this happened to you with one of our products, please don't let it put you off shopping with us again.

    Yes, you should complain - I am also a veggie and would have felt really sick if this had happened to me.

    I tend to be really paranoid about this sort of thing and even break spring rolls and bhajis open to check the contents before I scoff them.

    You deserve a refund, an apology and a goodwill gesture for any upset caused.

    Another almost pointless thread :D

    Take it back and you should get a refund like everyone said , im suprised how much us british people dont complain or go back straight away and rectify the problem.

    The worst they can do is say f off , then you have them by the balls :D

    I'm not a vegetarian but id be !!!! mad if it happened to me , but mistakes happen , just be calm and collected. ( they might give you a refund and 10 more vegechickenrolls ) :D

  • I will complain and let you know the outcome. Thanks for all the advice. Not a pointless thread - I needed to see what other people thought.

    Take it back definitely you'll at least get your money back and £2 if not more on a gift card.
    My mum is veggie and wont eat anything from the deli cos the meat items and veggie items are often next to each other - mum complained that once the meat things were falling off the tray things and touching the veggie ones. Mum suggested all the vegetarian items should be put together, but the deli items are set out in a particular way and asda house say they have to stay like that. We sometimes buy full boxes of the veg samosas so mum knows they havent had chance to touch any meat!
