Just over a month ago I had a sight test and bought two pairs of glasses from Asda opticians. I received both pairs after a week and the sunglasses were fine but I could not focus through the normal distance pair. I tried for 5 days thinking maybe I just needed to get used to them but to no avail so I returned to the store who tested them and said they had been made to the wrong prescription and would get them reglazed for me. Three weeks on and many phone calls later I still have not got my glasses and keep getting fobbed off with technical delays. I have reached the end of my patience today and just want my money back to go elsewhere to buy a new pair. Can anyone tell me what rights I have as obviously the glasses are useless to anyone else so I don't know if I can demand a refund?

Hi Jammy, I am the Manager responsible for all of the Asda Opticians for the UK. We do pride ourselves in service, and are proud to have served recently our one millionth customer, many of which come back again and again. I am dissapointed however to learn of your poor experience. If you can give me some simple details, like surname and the store you used I would be happy to ensure it is resolved swiftly. In the event of us not being able to resolve it to your full satisfaction I would be happy to authorise a refund for you. Please email me directly on nlangri@asda.co.uk if you have any questions or concerns. My thanks and apologies once again. I have had a problem with ASDA over glasses
I went and had my test on Saturday (booked for 9.10am but didn't get in till 9.45am) I picked the 2 frames I wanted and one happened to be FCUK. We went through the whole measurement etc list and having the thin and light lenses thought there would be no problem( and was told more then once it would be fine). By this time It is getting on to 10.30am and I am still stuck talking to the lass on the counter.
Well it turns out that the frames I want are causing a problem with the system and will not order so the lass tells me she will get it sorted and call the manufacture on Monday and order them and call me back.
Monday ends with no call so after work I call them to be told that no one knows anything at all about the problem and I need to sort it out my end ? ? ?
Today they tell me that the frames I wanted and were promised can not be done with my lenses (although there was NO sign to say that and they were with all the others) and that my time wasted was nothing to do with ASDA and that I need to make another appointment to get a new pair of frames sorted . As I work odd hours I told the girl I would need to call back for an appointment so I checked my work list and then spend 5 hours trying to call them back with NO luck.
So up shot is, I have the money for 2 frames with transition lenses but no frames and can not make an appointment to get the situation sorted out. I need the glasses as I can not see without them and having my perscription change means I get headaches etc..
Wish I had gone somewhere else and I will not use ASDA again and will also advise no one I know to use them. I mean what a waste of time having a frame that they know can not take any lense other ( we tried the super thin and it did not like that either) then FCUK and not telling people right from the start.
All I want is 2 pairs of nice glasses, not to much to ask for really.
But then it is Wallmart so guess I should have known better.There is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;

Well it is now a week on and I have been back to ASDA today to get my glasses sorted out as the girl had said she has kept my details and frames( second choice) Took the afternoon off work as I know it always take longer then they say.
Got there and surprise surprise they have no record of my frames etc.....
Ok so I go and find them again to be told that they were removed as out of stock on Wednesday , Right no problem I find a pair of Morgan and Vivian Westwood . Both would have reactor lenses so would set me back about £250 for both.
Got to the counter to go through the whole thing again and after 20 minutes I am told the Morgan are out of stock and they can not pre book them so I can't have the others on the deal either.
Choice again is wait or get yet another frame but seeing as these are needed I wanted nice ones and it is not my fault they are advertising things they don't have.
I made the girl go and get the store manager as seeing as they had now all my details (twice and I was a long term customer ) I thought that they could place the order for me when my frames come back into stock and I can just come in and pay as I can not afford to take any more time off.
Oh no not so easy. I can not get the frames sorted and they can not pre order. They do agree it is their fault as they had the frames out on display when they were out of stock but they can not let me have my second pair now even though I offered to pay for them but they could not split the amount of the deal. My vision has changed and I am getting headaches but hey ho I have to wait again.
The deal would save me about £75 which is a lot right now and means I can have reactors in both pairs and as I am blind as a bat I need the glasses all the time.
I have left it in the managers hands and he has promised to call me on Monday to let me know the date I can order them.
Everyone was very polite and nice but that does not help or solve the problem and I am not £29.74 out on contact lenses to make sure I can manage for a month until this situation is sorted.
Very annoyed by it all reallyThere is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;

I use an independent optician and get great service, though glasses are not cheap, for my eyes, never have been. You should be seen by a qualified fitter, who will measure your head size, mark off where your pupils centre and take about 20 minutes to ensure that the lenses are procured correctly. After this, the frames and lenses take about ten days to make and then I go for a full fitting.
And also, my optician goes out of their way to get the frames I want, and not some spotted moldoon of a of Saturday checkout girl, in on a bit of overtime!0 -
I gave Tesco Optitions a go and was really surprised. Got a pair of glasses and full eye test for the grand total of £27.00. Best service I've ever had and would recommend them and use them again. I don't have the money to pay allot for a pair of glasses but I am well pleased with the ones I got and the fact there is no 'name' on them doesn't bother me.Wow, I got 3 *, when did that happen :j:T:p
