No, the way it works is the policyholder declares claims caused when the vehicle is driven by the policyholder (not any named driver).
Perhaps I've misunderstood.
Last year I had a car claim on MY policy.
My husband was in the process of renewing his insurance. He told his insurer about MY claim as I'm a named driver and the insurer (esure) increased the premium (only £20 but as a direct result of a named drivers claims on another policy)..
As I say, perhaps I've misuderstood something.0 -
You have misunderstood my reply.
You made a claim. This had to be declared when you wanted to be a named driver on a different policy.0 -
Yes, I have misunderstood.
Sorry, I am honestly not trying to be difficult, but I have totally failed to understand it.
If I'm the only one and it's clear to everyone else then never mind.0 -

The named driver would declare the claim should they be taking out their own policy.
Thanks for clarifying that for me....you (or rather me) learn something new everyday!
I must admit...and please don't take offence Quentinbut whilst I was on the phone to some ins co's this afternoon getting quotes for hubbys bike I asked them the question.
They told me that whilst I am on the policy as a named driver the claim has to be declared. If I was to come off the policy it wouldn't have to be declared because whilst hubby has has a claim on his policy, he personally didn't make the claim.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. I think they have got confused or maybe describe what would happen incorrectly, if you have 2 separate policies in your name then the one you made a claim on will effectively loose any ncb it had on it or in your case go back to 0ncb however the other policy you have would also have to have the accident noted on it on the named driver i.e. your partner as the rating at renewal for this policy would be based on the driving experience of all drivers listed on it so you should not loose NCB on this policy however the policy may be loaded slightly due to your partners driving history as he would be classed as a higher risk driver. hope this helps0

Are you sure they said exactly that?
One company cannot tell you what another will do.
Are you sure they didn't say something slightly different, like it might affect your premium? and you misunderstood it?
Diamond have no control over the NCB that Bell (another company) offer you.
I would expect your Bell NCB to be maintained.
?
As both Bell and Diamond are part of the Admiral group, they probably can tell you what each other will do:A MSE's turbo-charged CurlyWurlyGirly:AThinks Naughty Things Too Much Clique Member No 3, 4 & 5

Certainly not true with the Admiral group (and possibly others). They'd want to know about the claim even if the policy holder wasn't driving. How else would they cover claims when the car was parked, for example?:A MSE's turbo-charged CurlyWurlyGirly:AThinks Naughty Things Too Much Clique Member No 3, 4 & 5
