Restaurants -nada if it sucks, normally around £3-5 if its not bad to good (talking ibll for two so normally only around £25.00 anyway)
Cafe for lunch - maybe i stingy but not normally very much a pound or two
Hairdresser/beautician - i dont cause i pay by card and they charge mew a surcharge for this which is normally a few quid.
Taxi - dont get one very often but normally keep the change if its like 50p or so
Takeaway delivery - nope it costs enough and they charge me for delivery too!
Mechanic - I don't think my father in law would take it!love you lots like jelly tots0 -
I only heard lately that the % tip in a restaurant should exclude drinks. I usually leave £3-£4 or so for a meal (which would be prob about 10% if you take a 'with wine' total but more like 20% of food total. I usually leave a couple of quid for the hairdresser (5%) and round up a cab to the nearest £ if he's been anyway nice. wouldn't think of it for a mechanic. Cafe or coffee shop, £1 or so.0

Dinner in a restaurant - 10%, normally rounded up to the nearest quid
Cafe for lunch - normally nothing but up to 10% if I think they've been particularly nice.
Taxi - a quid if I'm in a generous mood
Deliveries - nothing
Hairdresser - a quid (although I'm a bloke and my haircut costs £5)
Bar staff - nothing normally, worked as a bar man for years and rarely got tipped in NI. Occasionally will leave some small change if they're particulary nice or buy them a drink if they're really good.
It would appear I'm a tight git, certainly would never give 25% in a restaurant unless they did my ironing and polished my shoes while I ate.Life in this world is, as it were, a sojourn in a cave. What can we know of reality? For all we can see of the true nature of existence is, shall we say, no more than bewildering and amusing shadows cast upon the inner wall of the cave by the unseen blinding light of absolute truth, from which we may or may not deduce some glimmer of veracity, and we as troglodyte seekers of wisdom can only lift our voices to the unseen and say humbly "Go on, do deformed rabbit again.....it's my favourite". © Terry Pratchett in "Small Gods"

I'm a poor student. I can't afford to tip.
Though when I was in America a few years ago, I did tip. They are paid so badly... in some states I think the minimum wage is around $2 or something.*insert witty comment here*0 -
maybe give the taxi driver the full £10 if the fare is over £9,
would rarely tip in a restaurant unless the meal was nice good service if i do id thru a few quid in just.
Would never tip in a cafe, hair dressers etc0 -
I only ever tip where the service has been great. Poor service; no tip.
Generally 10% in restaurants.
Cafe; rarely. The service tends to be appalling. If it's good I'll tip 10%.
Taxi; rarely. Every time there's a hike in fuel prices they up the fares. When the fuel comes down in price, do they ever reduce the fares? No. They're ripping me off as it is, without tipping them for the experience.
Hairdresser. About 10%. My hair costs about £20 though.
Bar Staff; to the nearest whole number usually.
I really do take issue with rewarding poor service. Tipping those that provide it just encourages it in my view.0 -
I tip 10% in restaurants unless the food or service is bad. Nowhere else unless I receive something 'above and beyond the call of duty'. Is this not what a tip is for?
This isn't the USA!0
