Asda home delivery question...

I'm a driver at the same ASDA that emay works at (Hi emay:hello:) and we haven't really been told 'the right way' to do it. I personally don't take the crates to the door but just carry the bags and put them inside the door. The only times I use a trolly is when I have to go to a house where the van can't get close enough to the door.
I've just finished my shift an hour late- 4.30pm to 10.30pm (but should have been 9.30pm) with no break and covered a distance of 93 miles!!DEBT FREE BY 60Starting Debt 21st August 2019 = £11,024

It's strange that they have not told you which way to go about it if Asda Customer Line categorically told me that they have a new policy in place. Perhpas taking a while to filter through the stores perhaps (though a simple email would have got it to all stores immediately)I'm a driver at the same ASDA that emay works at (Hi emay:hello:) and we haven't really been told 'the right way' to do it. I've been doing the job for 5 years and when I first started I used to take all the boxes off and put them on a trolly but to be honest the manager at the time said that would be more time consuming. If I am in a terraced street or a house with a gravel drive it is a waste of time using the trolly. Also, I only have to carry the weight of shopping I feel comfortable carrying... some of those boxes are blooming heavy with booze, 2l bottles of pop and cans and cans of pet food!DEBT FREE BY 60Starting Debt 21st August 2019 = £11,024

When I enquired with Asda main customer service they said the policy now for flats was to leave them by the outside door. Can't leave the van for security reasons. The driver actually told me he didn't want to leave the van in case the Sat nav was nicked. I always thought they could be detached and taken with you? Anyway, Tesco bring them up the stairs so is much better for me being in a top floor flat and having physical problems.
Can't they lock the van up?
I wouldn't expect the driver to be gone for any length of time as my street is a main thoroughfare so parking is for loading only. I really appreciate the help as our lift door won't stay open for long, manys the time I have taken a little trip up and down in the lift with half my shopping left behind, or the shopping has taken a little trip in the lift without me! I have used Tesco LOADS and have always found the drivers to be extremely polit and helpful. I often wonder whether I should give them a tip, but don't as I worry it'd look patronising. Anyway, they tend to put the crates just inside the door, I carry them through to the kitchen, empty everything out then take the crates back. But they can also bring everything through to the kitchen if asked (or sometimes if I am looking a bit feeble!). 9 times out of 10 I do it myself, because there's no reason why I can't and I feel lazy enough getting my shopping delivered as it is when they deliver at 9pm and I'm already in my pyjamas - plus it helps them get on their way quicker. Judging by the service we've had with Tesco, I really cannot imagine that they'd leave you to unload with a new baby in your arms. In fact, I think they advertise that they "Deliver to your fridge door" so I think its all part of the service...There is no such thing as a free lunch. Its only free because you've paid for it.
Noone can have everything they want and the sooner you learn that the better.
MSE Aim: To have more "thanks" than "posts"! :T0 -
I live in a multi storey Skyscraper and regularly used Asda online, they would take it to my front door, always unloaded it for me or passed me the bags and I'd lob them in my hall until he left and I could get them all sorted out. I normally have a lot of heavy things like, cat litter, juice, bags of tatties and lots of cans, so they need the crate/trolley thing, one time a young lad didn't use it and it was clearly too heavy for him and when I opened the door he just smashed them down in my hall, which resulted in lots of yoghurts/coleslaw bursting open, me not noticing and leaving trails to the kitchen (Hate those holes in the bottom of the bag, I'd use them to scoop the cat litter!)
Having just done my first Tesco delivery, I must say he was very nice, actually chatted away, spoke about allsorts, and even knocked some money off a substitute I got.0
