when I start typing URLs into the address bar forfox starts to autocomplete...and some of the suggested sites are ones I'd rather not be in the list...
These sites are not in my bookmarks (that I can find) where would I find them so i can clear the list?

Have you cleared your private data? Tools>Clear Private Data. I think the list also includes things from you history.0

Hi
If you go into Edit > Preferences > Privacy
There's a box 'Always clear private data when close Firefox'
Make sure the box is ticked.
(Though you may have a different version of Firefox to me)0 -
Slightly off-topic here so sorry if I derail discussion or preach to the converted... but one of the major benefits I've found with Firefox is the Awesome bar functionality which does away with typing in URLs altogether."Who throws a shoe, honestly?"

I had the same problem. I did this
If you would rather not have Firefox display autocomplete results at all. This method does not work on Mac.- In the Location bar, enter about:config and hit return.
- Copy and paste the following into the filter field near the top browser.urlbar.maxRichResults.
- Double-click the browser.urlbar.maxRichResults preference and enter a value of -1.
- Close Firefox.
- Start Firefox again.

cheers, guys..
I should have said - I already have firefox deleting all private data except passwords + cookies
I do like, and want to use autocomplete
..I'd just like it to forget some things...but I can't see where they're stored (not bookmarks!)
I suppose it needs to lose it's autocomplete list...Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0 -
You used to be able to just click the drop down in the address bar, hover your mouse over one of them and then hit the delete key to delete them
Edit: still canworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
I installed the google toolbar in Firefox, it does a far more wholesome autocomplete. The firefox was bringing up real NSFW suggestions."Hey, if love is blind, how come lingerie is so popular?" Cochrane. P673 TNG.0
