sheilas wheels V tesco (contents insurance)

Options
Have just had our contents insurance quote from tesco , gone from £320 to £410.Never claimed anything , am amazed they can justify such an increase and send the letter stating " you do not have to do anything - we will automatically renew for you ".I dont think so.
Have been online to sheilas wheels and got quoted £74 for the same basic cover (£20k level) and they give you free home emergency cover at the moment as well.
Have got our car insurance through them ( my wife as 1st driver and me named driver)and cant say a bad word at all. Thought would try home insurance as well seem too good to be true.:j
Has anybody changed to them lately ?

Miggiwoo if you have contents cover of only £20000 the chances are you are seriously under insured unless you are a single person who has only owned your home for a couple of years.

The average home has circa £40000, I strongly recommend you review the total cost of your contents to replace at the NEW COST

will put in 40k and check what the amended quote is from sheilas wheels

sure it still wont come close to £400 +

    thanks for the advice. :money:

No point insuring for £40k if your belongings aren't worth near that.

I agree but the chances are the OPs contents are well in excess of £21900 if they are in any way average. Its why most companies automatically cover their clients for £50000 or £60000.

Being under insured is a very very expensive lesson to learn if you every have a claim and it is applied by the Insurers. The first thing the Insurers will do in the event of a large claim with someone who has a contents sum insured that looks low eg £21900 is work out if they are under insured and how much by
