What do you normally use to send e-mail? If Microsoft Outlook isn't working I'm guessing you've been using something else.

If you have the original installation media - the discs - visit this page then follow the instructions under the heading of Method 2.

Does the error say anything else, or give an error code?

By whom? According to this there are only two ways you could have gotten it and both are very, very expensive.

So Outlook is freezing up when you try and send the email? Is your outlook set up correctly, have you added an account to it which you have got to work correctly? Maybe what is happening is your clicking an e-mail link on a webpage which is bringing up Outlook by default but you have no email account setup with it.

Slightly off topic, when I e mail from a website, it defaults to Windows Mail but I'm using Mozilla Thunderbird now. Any idea how to change the default?
