Calling Abroad

Hi all,

I doubt this is in the right place. Sorry if its not, could you let me know where it needs to go?! Thanks.

I need to call Greece! I should be on the phone for about 30 minutes.

Am I right in thinking that an international calling card would be the best way to do it? And if so, where do I get one from and how do I use it?

Again, I am really really sorry if this is in the wrong place.

Thank you for your help!

It depends where your calling from as to the best way.

Are you using a BT Line,a mobile or what.

I call from BT to Poland for 0.5p per minute (landline) and 6p/min (mobile). For the same price I call from mobile (Orange) using VoIP. So its quite cheap. I think to Greece fees are similar.

No, an international calling card would most certainly not be the cheapest.

Assuming you have a BT line, that 30 minute call is going to cost you a minimum of 23p and a maximum of 38p - if you select a gateway provider (the green cells) from the list HERE.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

    Hello!

Thank you for all of your replies!

Yes, I will be calling from a BT landline.

Wow, now that I know it is going to be cheap, I don't need to worry about the price! Now I just need to worry about whether the person that I am going to speak to speaks good enough English for me to be understood!
