edited 30 June 2009 at 10:53AM in I won! I won! I won!
I received my first magnum pleasure card, activated it etc, balance £20.00.
Tried to use it in Tesco last night, they wouldn't accept it, so as Ive read about people spending them on line, I registered with Tesco Direct, picked my item included the delivery charge etc, came to £18.97 and checked out using my magnum card, got confirmation etc.....
Have Just checked my emails and I have an email from Tesco informing me that they have had to cancel my order as there were problems with my card. I have logged into magnum to check the balance is still there and it now only says £18.00 balance, so where has the £2.00 gone??????:confused: Im pulling my hair out with this bloomin promotion!!! Has anyone else had problems spending them????? Help!!!! Omg have just looked again and it says 'card balance - £18.00', does that mean negative £18 or is it just a dash????

  • I think that Tesco usually also do a pre auth for £2 when you place an order and then they debit the order amount when they dispatch your order so in this case they have done the pre auth for £2 and then when they have then gone to debit the rest because there is only £18 left and not the £18.97 they cant complete the transaction (even though they already have your £2). This is how it works with tesco grocery anyway so I am assuming this is the same for Tesco Direct. If they have cancelled your order then the £2 missing will show back on your card within a couple of days. Hope that helps x

:confused:Hi, Thanks for your help. I have Just resubmitted an order, but for something else, total including delivery came to £14.97, have just refreshed balance on magnum page and its now £16.00, so I guess your probably right!!! So really Tesco is not the best place to be using these cards then me thinks:confused::confused:. Ive got another problem now though, the order I placed last night is now awaitng payment and I cant find anywhere on the account page to cancel it, I have emailed Tesco, but as yet no reply.......:confused:. I have just phoned Tesco and the order was cancelled as you said, the £2 fee thingy left only £18 balance. They guy said I will get it back though. What a pain in the bottom these cards are turning out to be.............

I've used my cards in Morrisons and tesco's and also in New look, think sometimes you get someone who doesnt know how to put them through so just panic and say no we dont accept them.

I found the easiest way for me to use mine was to change them all up to amazon vouchers, they don't mind the cards and we use them loads :D

I explained to the person in tesco that you have to swipe and I have to sign etc..... he said lets give it a go and a message came up on his till screen saying 'unauthorised tender, ask customer for alternative payment method.' Ive rang Tesco and explained about the cards and they didn't have a clue what i was on about, I said you were stocking the lollies with the promotion etc, but they said they dont accept them.

I couldnt get Tesco or Asda to accept mine either, and I got fed up of the embarassment and disapproving looks from other queueing customers. In the end I just used them to pay money off my bills online or over the phone.

My cards haven't come yet so I dont know but I had problems with the SnackaJacks card which was the same thing. Sainsbury's and M&S refused to take it but Matalan, New Look and Tesco did. Perhaps we should start a thread of shops taking them and shops refusing.
