Credit Card purchase cover (Section 75)
Does anyone know how much you have to actually spend on a credit card (for a purchase over £100) to qualify for the Section 75 cover which makes the cc company liable if goods fail or are not received etc? Does the amount put on the card have to be over £100 or could you say put £25 on the cc and £100 on a debit card for a purchase of £125 in total?

The reason the credit card company is liable at all is because (I *think*) effectively, the card co. buys the goods from the vendor and then sells them to you with a credit agreement. (I may be wrong)
So I *think* that if you only spent £25 on the credit card, the card company would only be selling you a proportion of the goods and would therefore be liable for only that proportion of the goods. As they are effectively selling something to you (a tenth of a hi-fi perhaps) for less than the amount stipulated in section 75 of the relevant act, I *presume* that they would not be liable for the goods at all.
Well, that's my best guess anyway... maybe I should just keep my mouth shut and let the lawyers wade in to help!0
