For anyone who is with the AA, when your membership comes up for renewal don't accept the price on your renewal letter. Call them up on 0800 435 980 and select the option for membership enquiries, then select option 4 (thinking of leaving the AA). When you get through to the operator tell them you're thinkinking of moving your membership to GEM ( http://www.motoringassist.com/home.aspx ). You should be offered a discount or a complimentary service like homestart. If you want to try further then thank them for the offer but ask if there's anything else they can do. Hopefully you'll then be put through to the retention department who should offer you a better deal. I got a 30% discount on my membership for a 5 minute free phone call. By the way GEM are doing a great discount on their premium cover (equivalent to AA's relay + homestart) joint cover is only £81. Unfortunately it ends today 30th June.
