Advice on existing problems from Barratts new build

Hi all, I am looking for some advice before i proceed. basically we have been in our new home for 33 months - so over the 2 year snag problems.

The problem is with the heating system and it's a recurring problem from within the 2 year snag list, so my question to anyone that knows is can i still contact Barratts about this problem and are they obliged to correct it? I just want to get my facts correct incase they deny any help. (You can tell by my tone that i have faith in them, can't you)

Many thanks for any help

Yeah, if you have logged this call with them previously then you should still be covered as its never been fixed.

Honestly, the best thing here would be for you to talk to Barratts and go from there.

The advice you will get here will be worth about as much as you paid for it ;)

Is it worth going back to the solicitor you used for the original conveyancing?

If you flagged this issue up before and it is still not working properly from when you moved in, then it should be up to them to sort it.

CAB can be good, but very busy.

Thanks, The was was a new build so conveyancing is a not much help. Yes the call has been logged many times - recurring problem.

I'll give them a call and see what happens.

    Thanks

Keep us in the loop as it will be interesing to see how this plays out.

We moved in to a Barratts new build in december and our neighbours moved in a couple months earlier. While we have had no problems with our heating, its almost as if our neighbours have a different set of people through every other day to sort their heating out.

Have to say though that after reading all the reviews of Barratts online that I was really worried about moving in to one of their new builds but have been quite happy with what we have.

Maybe Barratts have sorted their lives out because we have always found them responsive.

Although I suspect that if you ask our neighbours they might have a different opinion.

    Regards

But you had a solicitor acting for you when you bought the house. You may find that they could assist.

Yes i'll keep this up to date. And Barratts are fine, we love our house, it the contractors they use and the communication between the 3 of us. Nothing is ever checked up, it's will always be up to you to basically oversee the repairs!

As long as contractor turns up and attempts to do something, then he/she knows that he'll get paid. Some are very good and meticulous at their jobs and some could not give a !!!!!

You need to put this in writing. Ideally, your original snag list within the 2-year warrantee period should also have been in writing.
In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:

have u had the central heating boiler serviced in line with the yearly guarentee? what is the heating problem ? Why has it not been sorted before now, ? difficult to help as we dont know the problems, but the customer care dept would keep all call out issues and snag lists thats for sure so dont worry they will sort it Im sure as your going out of guarentee period why not set up a contract with british gas or similar?

Hi, the problem is an on going one - the system is very complicated on 3 story house, but basically we lose pressure (on the pressure gauge) and water comes out of the over flow pipe (no leaks anywhere else) - which this is there as an emergency if the system is over presurised. The last time the heating contractors came out was when they said the pipes were the wrong way around - don't ask me the details because i don't understand it. The heating works fine, the hot water works fine, but we just want it to be right.

I have emailed them and i have had a reply (from a real person) and looks like they are on the case. we shall see...

Yes, great advice. Blame the conveyancer. And when you next need to put air in the tyres on your car go back to the person you bought it from and tell them to do it.
