Time between exchange & completion?

Hi there,
We are going in to our solicitors this fri to sign up ready for exchange of contracts, which is happening just after we have signed. All of the chain are expecting to complete next thursday , but after having a chat with our mortgage co this morning, they say they need 5 working days! our solicitor is not in today so couldnt clarify. I havent booked our removals yet on the basis of this, as if it dosnt happen next thurs it will be after Easter hols.
Does anyone know how long is actually needed between Ex and comp??
Thanks to anyone who can help!!I really want to move next thursday!!

I'd get back to your mortgage co. and query this. I was a FTB with a 100% mortgage, and due to the lack of deposit I exchanged and completed on the same day - didn't cause HSBC any problems. Never heard of anything like this so ring back and ask to speak to someone more senior, and yes, get your solicitor on the case.
