I have a Compaq TFT5000 monitor. It has always worked absolutely fine and has never given me any problems... until today!
I turned the base unit on and the orange light started flashing fairly slowly on the monitor but nothing happened. I checked all the connections and tried various combinations of turning different bits of equipment off & on, unplugged it etc. Then the orange light on the monitor started flashing much faster. Normally when I first turn the base unit on the light on the monitor turns green.
I then remembered that my LCD TV came with a cable so that it could be used as a PC monitor so I dragged that halfway across the room and then dragged the base unit across to join it in the MIDDLE of the room so although I am viewing this on a 32" screen it's not ideal!
My question:
Are there any steps that I can take to try and revive my monitor? If anybody does have any suggestions then please be gentle with me as I 'm not particularly advanced with all this technical stuff!
P.S Everything else is working 100% whilst i'm hooked up to the TV which is how I know that it is the monitor that is broken.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

How old is it? From what I remember, most monitors came with a 3 year manufacturers warranty.0

I bought it second hand around nine months ago from ebay so even if it was under three years then I don't have a receipt or warranty etc.
Thanks for the suggestion though.0 -
think maybe time to just replace it, I take it youve replaced fuse etc n checked the cable for nicks/damages ?Wannabe DFW NERD: Not fully fledged member yet !
