Wouldn't woryy about it Holes. It takes HMRC a while sometimes and sometimes you just slip through the net and then they will claim your tax back at the end of the year from HMRC. Not your problem, let them sort it.

I don't think that time frame is unheard of. Like Tigerfeet said, if they don't get around to implementing the nil tax code they'll reclaim it at the end of the year direct (personally I think this is the easiest and cheapest option for them and don't know why they don't do it this way in the first place).

  • when i did speak to OR he said the same he doesnt or anyone in his office understand why they do a NIL TAX code
  • We went bankrupt in early April (but in this tax year) and still don't have a nil tax code either. Would be great if it stays that way!

How much tax do you usualyl pay each month? if £50 or under, they won't do a NT Tax code (argument not worth paying Moonbeever fees) and will collect direct from HMRC at end of tax year.
  • I can't work out why they do this, surely the tax man takes priority over everyone else?
  • Thanks jc my tax is only £43 a month so good news

Hi I was placed on a nil Taxcode for 3 months (Jan,Feb,March this year)I have saved the money about £600. Which I have sitting in my savings account, waiting for the OR to ask for it - so far not a peep. They were supposed to get in touch to give me the details of what to do with it and they haven't - so I know I'm going to be told I should contact the OR myself but I don't intend to, it's going to sit their until they ask for it - and if they forget about it so much the better,I only have about 4 months until automatic discharge so who knows! Yes I know I'm going to get hammered by some of you but I'm not that bothered - it feels a bit like having a security blanket knowing that it's their if something terrible happens!
