Adding Somebody To Your Insurance For 24 Hours
Options
Is this possible?
I want to go on a day trip with a bunch of mates. We're all going to go for a drink when we get there, but obviously I wont be able to if I've got to drive back. One of my mates with a full license has said she'd like to drive back and doesn't mind not drinking. She's a new driver, but very competent.
Is it possible to add her to my insurance policy (Fully Comp with Churchill) for 24 hours? If so will it cost a couple of quid or something ridiculous?
It also means I wont have to concentrate on motorways for 8 hours in the same day, as it'd be split 50:50!
She's still looking for her first car, so she hasn't got another policy of her own allowing her to drive other vehicles third party only.
Cheers,

This should be possible, as I have done this with Admiral in the past for my younger brother. He has not got a car, and when home over the christmas period I let him use mine, as I am rather merry most of the time:)
The only way you will find out the cost will be to call your insurance company. Mine was only a £10 charge, but if the risk category of the driver is very different to yours you may have to pay more.
Hope this helps

My dad insured his car for a week for my nephew. I can't remember how much it was, but I know it wasn't a lot. My nephew only had a provisional licence. He used the car to get some practice in and sit his driving test (as the only other car available to him was an automatic, and his driving instructor had another pupil sitting his test around the same time).0

Think the admin side will probably be higher than the actual premium. New driver might ring alarm bells though. As has been said you can only ask. Please lets us know how much they asked for.
My guesstimate:- £30-£50 (of which £20-£25 will be the admin/hassle charge)0 -
£22.05 for their minimum period of 36 hours of cover.
Not too bad considering shes 17, and recently passed her test.
Not sure whether its worth it for a few extra beers though0 -
