How to answer number of years insurance held continuously?

Options
I change home insurance almost every year to get the best deals but this has lead to a problem when answering the continuous insurance questions when getting quotes.
Typically they want to know how many years you have held insurance without a break. Would changing insurer on the renewal date classify as a break? I reckon not but if you make a claim then surely this is something the current insurer would check up on(in order to get out of paying) and unless you have all the previous insurer documents(which could be quite considerable) then they could catch you out. Has anyone else got any thought on this potential problem?

It doesn't count as a break because you have had continuous insurance - albeit with different insurers.

I don't know if they check up on it - I certainly haven't been asked to provide previous policy documents when I've had to claim.

Its one of the things some of the Insurers check when they get a big claim or a claim they suspect to be dodgy
