morgan stanley

Hi a quick hello from a newbie, and a quick question.
This morning i recieved a letter from morgan stanley asking for me to choose a pin number and send it to them so they can send me my new card. They supplied a form to fill in but i am a little concerned.
My question is... is this right i though the main thing about a pin number is that you don't tell anyone.

thank
Claire

Ring Morgan Stanley straight away and don't do anything with the form.
  • Yes ring them - I had to mail them with a new pin code but I asked for it to be changed and they sent a new card as well. Does sounds very dodgy if you have not asked for a PIN change

It's the way Morgan Stanley operate because they don't have PIN update access on ATMs. I queried it myself before going ahead and have had no problem in the 3 months since. They explained that the link between the form with the PIN number on and your credit card details is not known to anyone.

^^ That's right - when I opened my Morgan Stanley card, I had to send a form off with my desired PIN written on. It had a code or barcode on the form rather than my card account number so that it was 'secure' in a way.

Same here. They can't change PIN numbers at ATMs - and that's not just because they don't have any ATMs of their own.

In any case I would be suspicious if you did not ask for the change of PIN. If you still have the envelope the letter came in, check on the back to see if there is a P O Box address in Glasgow as the return address. If that's the case, it's probably genuine.
  • thanks everyone, i phoned them, they explained that it did not have any personal information on the reply slip. (obviously didn't notice that !) all sorted thanks all.
